Occupation: Oysterman.  When he was a teenager, he built his
own
dug-out canoe from which he oystered.  It was told by the wife
of William (Poor Boy) Hogg (his Dad), that Jack Hogg drowned
while on a ferry boat.  He was buried in Middlesex County in
the Churchview Cemetary.  Jack is in a line of unmarked
graves of relatives, 4 rows from the tombstone of Aubrey and
Sallie Redd, between the tombstones and the line of trees on the
road to King & Queen.  He was 82 yrs. when he died.

She died from Typhoid Fever

He was buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Princess Anne Road,
Norfolk VA.  His first two wives are buried next to him.
Known as:  Captain Hogge – in 1990 moved to Lynnhaven VA
Occupation:  Tug-boat Captain.  An Oysterman for 84 years, he
started at the age of 6, working with his father (Jack Hogg) in a
crude dug-out canoe.  When he was 18, he had his own 250
bushel boat with which he supplied oysters for markets from
Norfolk, VA to Baltimore MD.  An authority on oysters, he
helped many to reclaim oyster bed by passing on to oyster
growers his generation of knowledge of oysters lore.  Captain
Hogge had some fears that even Lynnhaven, perhaps the world’
s most famous oyster ground, may be doomed.  In view of recent
developments, what a wise man he was.

Occupations listed:  Aviator and/or airplane mechanic
Cause of death:  Instant death from crushing of chest and other
injuries.  He was crammed against the instruments from the
airplane crash.  The crash was called “accidential”.  He was
cremated at Inglewood Crematory on March 18, 1930.
The airplane crashed in the Santa Monica Mountains about one
mile North of Will Rogers’s Ranch near the polo field.  Wires &
papers found on body which included a card given by H.
Decker, a driver for the Diamond Cab Company.
